Hi, I’m Nashy!

My real name is Natsuko Rowlands. Mother to a cheeky 2-year-old (JP × AUS). Graduated art uni in my 30s and now drawing on my iPad. Living the quiet life back in my snowy hometown of Yamagata after stints in Tokyo and Niseko. Still figuring things out, slowly realising less is more. With a glass of wine.

Nashyこと、ローランド奈津子と申します。日豪2歳児の母。30代で京都芸大を卒業し、iPadで描く画家に。パンデミックを機に東京とニセコの二拠点生活を経て、今は地元・山形へ。 "Less is more"の精神で生きています。

Unearthing modest marvels of daily life

I mainly focus on natural motifs, finding small moments of wonder in the everyday that we so often overlook. The yellow hat on Nashy’s logo is typical of those worn by primary school students in Japan, and symbolises the "beginner's mind" - a value I hold dear.

自然のモチーフを主に、ふだんは見過ごしてしまいそうな「何てことない日常」のなかで出会うささやかな感動を表現しています。黄色のぼうしのロゴには、私が大事にしている「初心」の意をこめました。

Healing through art.

Having experienced burnout myself, I found a sense of healing through learning and practising art. Through Nashy I hope to share this feeling with others. With the goal of bringing even a tiny bit of ease and playfulness to the hearts of others in these turbulent times, I pursue my creative journey every day.

アートを学び実践することで、がんじがらめになっていた心を解いていくような、癒やされていく感覚を見つけることができました。Nashyを通じて、出会ってくれた方々とこの気持ちを共有し、少しでもゆるみやあそびを届けられるよう、クリエイティブの道を追究しています。
